Glad you got the startscript worked out.

If the problem is isolated to Windows PCs, and other machines are fine I’d say it’s something on the PCs.  You said it stays broken— is that permanent or just until a reboot?  Once it’s broken, is it possible to login as a visitor still?

Is it possible antivirus software or a proxy firewall traffic routes through decides to block the port for some reason?  You’d think it would be more up-front, and I’m not sure that jives with the other behaviors, but that’s my only speculation.  Anyone else have ideas?
