[Pianod] Sharing the audio card

Hi folks, newbie, but loving pianod.  The only issues is I can't get it 
to share with espeak.  Espeak gets run every now and again to make 
announcements, however pianod has locked up the sound card so that 
espeak errors when it tries to "talk".

This is all running on a very exotic ubuntu 13.10 install, alsa, and a 
AC 97 sound card.

I tried searching the archives however I didn't see anything that looked 
applicable, and I'll admit, I'm sound stupid. :)

This is a great solution if we can make it work as the same script can 
pause and play when I need the announcements more clear (it's a lap 
counting system, and during a race we pause the music...)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
