[Pianod] Music doesn't start when launched at startup

I ran pianod from a local command line and everything seems to work fine.
Then I set it up to run automatically from /etc/init.d and moved my
startscript and user config files into /etc/ as per the instructions.
The daemon starts up correctly. I can start a session via telnet, and I can
see the correct station list associated with my Pandora account. When I go
to play a station, however, nothing happens and the status stays at
STOPPED. Here's the log of one such command:
PLAY STATION "My Pandora Station"
132 admin selected the station: My Pandora Station
109 SelectedStation: station My Pandora Station
200 Success
133 Retrieved new playlist
105 Track playback complete
108 No station selected
103 Stopped
I've tried setting my daemon to run as a local user instead of as root, but
that had no impact.
Any thoughts?
